Job Description

GitLab is recruiting a Demo Architect for its EMEA field organization, with the listed location as the United Kingdom. The post is full-time. The reporting line runs to the Senior Director heading the Solutions Architecture Center of Excellence, and the current team lead provides guidance on a daily basis.

The architect builds and keeps running the software, applications, and infrastructure that field staff rely on for presentations, hands-on labs, pilots, and internal testing. Projects include growing the Demo Architect Portal so it automates more and offers more self-service, and spinning up environments on GitLab.com and demo instances, as well as in internal systems.

The job blends engineering, infrastructure operations, and customer-facing teamwork. The architect works with SAs, AEs, Customer Success staff, Marketing, RevOps, UX designers, and engineers to learn what is needed and deliver usable solutions. Urgent failures in demo environments also fall to this role, which must keep stakeholders updated while recovery is underway.

Suited candidates have built software, systems, or internal tools for technical users and are comfortable with monitoring and observability platforms, provisioning, and automation. The team is small, spread across regions, and works asynchronously.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the tools and processes behind presentations, hands-on labs, pilots, and internal test setups
  • Grow the Demo Architect Portal so automation and self-service scale for field staff and partners
  • Set up and maintain infrastructure that gives live access on GitLab.com and demo instances, plus internal test setups
  • Document go-to-market workflows and automate the repetitive setup steps they involve
  • Produce hands-on workshop materials and enablement resources for pre-sales staff
  • Advise on sales opportunities that need specialized demo support or custom builds
  • Cut manual presenter setup and make demo workflows simpler to repeat
  • Keep the demo and test infrastructure healthy for the internal teams that depend on it

Requirements

  • Background building software, systems, or internal tooling for technical staff or business teams
  • Ability to ship production-quality code and automation that is reliable, maintainable, and well documented
  • Ease with moving between application code and infrastructure work such as provisioning and automation
  • Practical use of monitoring and observability tools to shorten diagnosis time
  • Clear communication with technical and non-technical colleagues across several functions
  • Independence in a remote, asynchronous setup, plus openness to occasional trips for group offsites and in-person whiteboarding

Qualifications

  • Exposure to demos, workshops, trials, or enablement material, or a clear interest in pre-sales work
  • Experience carried over from software engineering, site reliability, systems engineering, or solutions architecture

Core Skills

Benefits

  • Support for health, money matters, and overall wellbeing
  • Adjustable paid time off
  • Employee resource groups open to every team member
  • Stock-based pay and a discounted share purchase plan
  • A fund for personal growth and skill development
  • Leave for new parents
