Job Description
AlphaSense operates an artificial intelligence platform focused on market intelligence and workflow orchestration, offering business and financial professionals access to a massive library of enterprise documents and specialized AI search tools. The company is hiring a remote, full-time Staff Quality Engineer to lead testing operations for its Expert Research division, which manages expert networks, interview coordination, and compliance workflows.
This individual will establish the overarching testing methodology across multiple engineering squads while operating independently without a dedicated quality management team. Key duties involve building end-to-end automation frameworks, addressing test coverage deficiencies in core products, defining release criteria, validating generative artificial intelligence features, and guiding developers in shift-left testing principles.
The position is suited for an experienced testing professional who can autonomously drive software quality, mentor technical teams, and implement automated testing pipelines in a fast-paced technology environment. Total compensation ranges between $148,350 and $203,550 per year, accompanied by performance-based bonuses, equity options, and comprehensive benefits.
Responsibilities

- Identify and resolve test coverage vulnerabilities across vital workflows including scheduling, compliance checks, transcript analysis, and client portals
- Develop and expand scalable end-to-end test automation while determining the appropriate layers for unit, component, API, and system tests
- Collaborate with software developers on test planning for upcoming features to ensure automation is prepared alongside code delivery
- Establish quality benchmarks and release criteria that engineering squads can track and implement
- Evaluate artificial intelligence capabilities such as call synthesis and automated interviews to determine validation procedures
- Leverage artificial intelligence utilities to accelerate test creation, upkeep, and triage while demonstrating methods to colleagues
- Mentor engineers on shifting testing earlier in the development lifecycle and applying quality-by-design standards
Requirements
- Practical experience building end-to-end automation using either Cypress or Playwright, along with readiness to learn the alternative framework
- Proficiency in at least one programming language like Ruby, TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, Kotlin, or Java, plus adaptability in unfamiliar codebases
- Strong proficiency in test design, API testing methodologies, and testing theory
- Familiarity with unit and component testing frameworks such as RSpec or Vitest
- Demonstrated history of utilizing artificial intelligence tools to expedite software creation and testing
- Solid comprehension of continuous delivery processes, release gating, and pipeline configuration
- Familiarity with test management platforms like Allure TestOps alongside performance and observability utilities
- Capacity to establish direction autonomously without a dedicated manager or testing team
- Background in mentoring engineering squads on software quality and coordinating across multiple groups
- Effective communication skills addressing both technical and non-technical audiences
Qualifications
- Experience testing intricate, workflow-focused web applications like marketplaces, administrative tools, or scheduling software
- Background handling compliance-sensitive products or restricted data such as transcripts
