Zoox is seeking a Staff ServiceNow Platform Engineer to lead the long-term strategy and architecture for its internal ServiceNow environment. Operating in a hybrid model, this position balances high-level executive planning with direct technical execution. The employer focuses on building a ground-up, fully autonomous vehicle fleet and the accompanying ecosystem to deliver mobility-as-a-service in cities, operating at the intersection of robotics, machine learning, and design.
This role suits an experienced platform leader who is comfortable establishing multi-year roadmaps while remaining active in hands-on development. Daily operational tickets and steady-state maintenance are handled by a managed services partner, but the chosen candidate will take charge of complex integrations, architectural proofs-of-concept, and new module rollouts. Responsibilities also include managing and mentoring two contractors while serving as the primary technical contact to hold third-party vendors accountable for performance metrics, service level agreements, and release standards.
Ideal candidates will bring a decade of ServiceNow experience combined with leadership capabilities. The function demands strong communication skills to present strategies to senior leadership, alongside the technical capability to write and review scripts, manage workflows, and configure system modules personally when necessary.
Responsibilities
- Design and evangelize the multi-year platform roadmap and strategic vision across the organization
- Perform direct development, configuration, and architecture tasks for complex integrations and strategic initiatives
- Direct day-to-day operations of a managed services partner and enforce delivery outcomes and service level agreements
- Manage and mentor two contractors by setting priorities and co-developing or reviewing their work
- Handle vendor governance tasks including request for proposal support, contract and statement of work input, and onboarding
- Establish architecture and release standards for both internal team members and external vendors
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of working experience with ServiceNow
- At least 5 years of experience in a technical architecture or design capacity
- Maintained active hands-on development skills including flow designer, scripting, integrations, and app development
- Deep working knowledge of ServiceNow architecture covering ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, IntegrationHub, and platform development
- Proven background in governing managed service providers or system integrator partners at scale
- Demonstrated ability in defining statements of work, managing vendor escalations, and commercial acumen
Qualifications
- Certified Technical Architect credential strongly preferred
- Certified System Administrator certification
- Certified Application Developer certification
- Certified Implementation Specialist credential in ITSM, HAM, or Discovery
- Experience directing contractor teams and setting task priorities
- Strong stakeholder management abilities across technical and non-technical groups
