In this role, the engineer will dictate the architectural path for systems handling both cryptocurrency and fiat transactions across Coinbase infrastructure. The position involves designing high-scale distributed financial platforms that support retail, international, exchange, prime, and payments business units. Responsibilities

- Advance backend infrastructure through modern cloud-native patterns while identifying and resolving scaling bottlenecks
- Set engineering standards, code review protocols, and architectural patterns to minimize operational risk and elevate quality
- Provide mentorship to engineers across various levels concerning distributed systems best practices and service reliability
Requirements
- Bring at least 8 years of experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems in production environments
- Possess deep expertise in backend programming languages such as Go, Ruby, Python, or Java
- Demonstrate a proven background in cloud-native architecture and designing high-throughput, highly available systems
- Show a history of delivering and scaling financial systems or reliability-focused fund movement platforms
- Have experience leading cross-functional technical projects, mentoring staff, and translating complex problems into roadmaps
