Job Description

Affirm is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for its Fraud Decisioning team. The team builds the tools and systems behind Affirm's fraud-fighting work, helps other teams adopt and monitor them, and uses analytics to improve the quality of fraud decisions.

This is a senior technical leadership role. The engineer leads large cross-functional initiatives from project definition and technical specification through task breakdown, delivery, monitoring and maintenance. The role also covers mentoring engineers, giving them the context and ownership they need, reviewing others' work with constructive feedback, and holding quality standards across teams. The engineer gathers input from stakeholders, builds shared understanding, and takes part in technical and soft-skill interviews, including shaping the interview process.

The posting asks for six to ten-plus years in software engineering, with leadership and mentoring experience, along with a record of shipping and upkeep on complex platforms. Candidates must be able to translate business, product and technical needs into system designs and split them into modules or components.
