The engineer leads large initiatives across the company, starting from scoping and technical specification, then breaking the work into tasks and carrying it through delivery, observation and ongoing support. Designs should be simple and elegant, easy to deploy and debug, with failure modes anticipated. The engineer also writes code others can understand and reuse, reviews peers' work, mentors engineers, supports stakeholders and helps define technical interview standards.
Ideal candidates have six to ten or more years in software engineering with leadership and mentoring experience, and a record of building, launching and maintaining complex systems. Strong system-architecture thinking is needed to see how business and product requirements decompose into modules. Working closely with Product, ML, Analytics and Business groups is central to the role. A degree at bachelor level in a relevant discipline, or a comparable hands-on background, is required. The CAN base pay range is $181,000 to $241,000 per year. Eligible applicants must live in nine provinces, including Alberta, Ontario and Saskatchewan (Quebec and the territories are not listed).
