The organization is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join its Identity and Privacy team in New York on a hybrid work schedule. In this position, the engineer will build, scale, and maintain distributed systems focused on secure user identity, data governance, consent management, and privacy-first architectures. This role involves designing high-throughput event-driven data pipelines and collaborating closely with cross-functional groups such as security, legal, marketing, and data teams to balance compliance with quality patient experiences.

Candidates will handle customer identity management, attribution workflows, and asynchronous data processing systems while working alongside experienced technologists and clinicians. Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain distributed data systems and consent management tools compliant with consumer privacy rules
  • Design and operate high-throughput event-driven architectures including Kafka and streaming systems
  • Contribute to authentication and identity infrastructure such as access controls and user lifecycle management
  • Architect and scale asynchronous data pipelines for batch and real-time use cases
  • Partner with growth and marketing teams to facilitate privacy-compliant analytics, CRM, and advertising workflows
  • Implement data minimization, anonymization, and tokenization techniques for third-party platform integrations
  • Collaborate with legal and security teams to enforce compliance, retention, and governance policies

Requirements

  • Have at least 8 years of total software engineering experience
  • Possess a minimum of 2 years of experience at a Staff level or higher
  • Demonstrate strong proficiency in Python
  • Bring deep experience with distributed systems, streaming platforms, and event-driven architectures
  • Show experience operating data pipelines and first-party data platforms
  • Have familiarity with identity and authentication systems including OAuth, MFA, and session management
  • Bring experience working within regulated environments
