This full-time, on-site Staff Software Engineer role in ServiceNow's Telemetry Data Platform team is based in Hyderabad. Roughly two-thirds of the work is telemetry infrastructure, data pipelines, Kubernetes and DevOps, with the rest on the services and product surfaces built on top. The engineer also takes part in on-call and production ownership.
It suits a senior backend engineer with deep distributed systems experience, Kafka and Kubernetes skills and a record of owning systems in production.
Responsibilities
- Design, build and own backend services for high-volume distributed data streaming
- Build and maintain Kafka pipelines and the components that feed ClickHouse
- Deploy and operate services on production Kubernetes with Helm-based CI/CD
- Debug production incidents, run root-cause analysis and work to defined service level objectives
Requirements
- At least 8 years of backend software engineering experience
- At least 4 years designing and operating distributed systems
- At least 3 years of Kubernetes in production, including Helm and CI/CD, plus 3 years of Kafka or similar streaming systems
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or a closely related field
Qualifications
- Production experience with ClickHouse or another OLAP or columnar store
- Exposure to OpenTelemetry, metrics and logging stacks, or alerting platforms
- Experience with stream processing such as Flink or Spark
