Job Description

Vercel seeks a Strategic Finance Manager, Product (EPD) to collaborate directly with engineering and product teams. The company operates an agentic infrastructure platform that helps builders take applications from concept to production, serving millions of developers alongside prominent clients like OpenAI, PayPal, Ramp, and Supreme. In this position, the professional will manage unit economics, drive infrastructure efficiency, and expand margins across a consumption-based technology platform.

The role focuses heavily on cloud infrastructure expenses, token spending, and emerging artificial intelligence workloads such as inference and compute-intensive services. Responsibilities include taking charge of financial visibility for compute, bandwidth, and storage costs, developing self-service cost tracking tools for engineering groups, and leading initiatives for infrastructure optimization. Additionally, the individual will create driver-based financial models, handle COGS and gross margin forecasting for product lines, and partner on usage-based pricing structures to evaluate growth and margin trade-offs.

This opportunity is well-suited for a finance professional who can bridge the gap between technical operations and monetary insights. Ideal candidates bring extensive background in strategic finance, investment banking, consulting, or FP&A, particularly within cloud infrastructure or consumption-driven business models. The position involves supporting audit readiness and building scalable cost allocation frameworks across multi-tenant systems.

  • Translate infrastructure usage metrics such as execution time and request volume into clear cost drivers
  • Build self-service cost tracking tools to help product and engineering teams monitor expenditures per request and query
  • Lead efficiency initiatives focused on compute optimization, caching strategies, and vendor management
  • Develop driver-based forecasting models linking platform usage, revenue, and infrastructure costs
  • Partner with teams on usage-based and artificial intelligence pricing models to evaluate growth and margin impacts

Requirements

  • Possess five to eight or more years of experience in strategic finance, FP&A, investment banking, or consulting
  • Demonstrate hands-on experience working with consumption-based or cloud infrastructure businesses
  • Showcase strong financial modeling skills, specifically with driver-based forecasting
  • Demonstrate the ability to partner with technical teams and translate platform usage into monetary insights

Qualifications

  • Possess strong SQL and data tooling experience
