Zoox is building a purpose-built, fully autonomous vehicle fleet along with the ecosystem needed to introduce this technology into urban markets. Combining robotics, artificial intelligence, and vehicle design, the company is creating a next-generation mobility service.
The organization is currently seeking a Strategic Sourcing Manager to handle direct procurement and industry alliances. This professional will manage third-party supplier relationships, issue requests for quotation, evaluate potential partners, lead negotiations regarding pricing and terms, and identify cost-saving opportunities. The ideal candidate functions well autonomously and holds expertise in areas such as vehicle electronics, powertrains, chassis systems, body components, safety equipment, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, fleet maintenance operations, or heavy capital equipment.
In this capacity, the individual will steer direct material sourcing for vehicle interiors, structural elements, and advanced hardware, as well as operational infrastructure. They will collaborate closely with internal teams across engineering, manufacturing, finance, design, operations, and strategy to execute a multi-year technology and business roadmap. Responsibilities include supervising daily partner performance, conducting market analysis, creating total cost of ownership models, and securing comprehensive contract coverage alongside legal teams.
Responsibilities
- Manage strategic sourcing and industry partnerships for direct procurement
- Identify, evaluate, and select potential partners and suppliers
- Draft and issue requests for quotation while leading negotiations on pricing and terms
- Resolve commercial and supply chain issues to uncover cost reduction opportunities
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align on medium-term business and technology roadmaps
- Oversee day-to-day partner milestones, change orders, and quality assurance
- Build supplier performance assessments and conduct industry market research
- Develop total cost of ownership models to inform sourcing decisions
- Establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers as the main commercial point of contact
Requirements
- Minimum of four years of experience in purchasing or partnership development within a hardware product setting
- Expertise in strategic sourcing, financial and business opportunity analysis, and contract negotiation
- Comfort working with development, supply, licensing, and service agreements
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities
