Zoox is seeking a Team Lead for Fleet Support Operations to manage the readiness, reliability, and efficiency of its autonomous vehicle fleet. This on-site, hands-on leadership role functions as the central operational hub for fleet service activities, overseeing incoming work orders, scheduling maintenance and repairs, and coordinating preparation of required parts, documentation, and tools. The position is well-suited for a structured professional with a background in fast-paced automotive service environments who excels at cross-functional coordination and process optimization.
The person in this position will direct a team of Fleet Support Specialists, establish Standard Operating Procedures for scalable operations, and maintain real-time visibility over fleet health via direct engagement with engineering and technician personnel. Responsibilities include tracking repair pipelines, analyzing open vehicle issues, auditing repair order quality, and generating performance reports across multiple intervals. This role requires partnering with logistics, quality, and program management divisions to ease the transition of hardware and software developments into daily operations.
Candidates must be available to work the first shift from Monday through Friday between 7 AM and 4 PM, and must be prepared to travel up to 25 percent of the time to support expansion, standardization, and cross-site operations at additional Zoox facilities.
Responsibilities
- Manage a team of Fleet Support Specialists to promote execution excellence and accountability
- Design and deploy Standard Operating Procedures to build scalable and efficient workflows
- Examine the work request pipeline and communicate next steps with requestters
- Benchmark against industry practices and utilize continuous improvement methods to refine processes
- Partner with the scheduling team to allocate repair slots and minimize vehicle downtime
- Analyze open vehicle problems and formulate action plans to track fleet health
- Maintain precise historical records regarding vehicle conditions and maintenance histories
- Contribute to the development of technical documentation and operational processes
- Compile regular fleet maintenance and performance reports on daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly schedules
- Inspect repair orders to guarantee adherence to company standards
- Procure parts to guarantee availability for planned and unplanned maintenance
- Relay repair feedback to enhance product design and operational methods
- Aid expansion initiatives by establishing team frameworks, processes, and training materials at new sites
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of experience working in a rapid service-oriented setting
- Prior background managing a team through performance oversight and high expectations
- Previous work experience within an automotive service setting along with knowledge of repair processes
- Collaborative approach with the capability to operate in cross-functional groups
- Competency in Jira and Confluence alongside familiarity with MS Office and Google Suites
- Organizational capabilities to handle multiple concurrent projects
- Ability to communicate and reply rapidly using communication platforms such as email and Slack
- Ability to travel up to 25 percent of the time
- Available for the first shift operating Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 4 PM
