Job Description
Vercel, the agentic infrastructure company trusted by millions of developers and leading enterprises, is seeking a Senior Technical Account Manager. Operating within the Professional Services division's Forward Deployed Engineering organization, this billable and customer-funded role focuses on continuity. The incumbent acts as the named, persistent technical owner for mission-critical workloads across a portfolio of strategic enterprise accounts.
This position suits professionals who want to lead post-sales technical relationships, coordinate cross-functional internal resources, and drive long-term platform adoption. Reporting to the Head of Professional Services, the selected individual works within the Americas or EMEA region. Responsibilities include running recurring business and technical reviews, leading technical triage and post-mortem analysis for escalated incidents, orchestrating specialized engineering resources, and delivering proactive architectural guidance and cost optimization strategies.
Candidates must possess extensive customer-facing technical experience with platforms or infrastructure tools, deep understanding of cloud environments, and strong executive communication skills. While prior production experience with Next.js and Vercel is advantageous, it is not mandatory. The role does not involve writing production code, carrying a sales quota, or participating in 24/7 on-call rotations, though it requires roughly four to eight trips annually for client meetings and retrospectives.
Responsibilities
- Manage the post-sales technical relationship for a portfolio of enterprise accounts following a formal handover from Solutions Architecture
- Partner with Account Executives while maintaining distinct domain boundaries and mutual veto rights
- Facilitate regular client interactions, including weekly calls, monthly updates, quarterly technical reviews, and annual roadmap workshops
- Take ownership of escalated incidents, direct post-mortem analysis, identify architectural root causes, and build remediation roadmaps
- Provide responses within four business hours for P1 or P2 escalations during local working hours
- Deliver proactive technical strategies, risk mapping, usage optimization, and pre-launch readiness evaluations
- Coordinate and scope additional Vercel resources such as Forward Deployed Engineers and Professional Services projects
- Advocate for customer needs internally to Product, Engineering, and Support teams to maintain platform accountability
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a customer-facing technical role such as a TAM, Solutions Architect, Developer Success professional, Field Engineer, or technical consultant
- Demonstrated personal ownership of strategic accounts, encompassing QBRs, roadmaps, workshops, and renewals
- Practical experience running a technical platform at scale, including familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, release mechanics, deployment strategies, and cost management
- Production-grade architectural reasoning expertise across AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Capability to compress complex technical issues into clear one-page executive summaries
- Willingness to travel approximately four to eight times annually for in-region client visits
Qualifications
- Prior production experience with Next.js and Vercel
- Experience working as a Technical Account Manager at a hyperscaler, infrastructure platform, or developer-tools company like AWS, Cloudflare, MongoDB, Snowflake, Datadog, or GitHub
- Hands-on experience with AI agent development frameworks, MCP servers, or the Vercel AI SDK
- Background in facilitating annual technical roadmap workshops or Well-Architected Reviews with enterprise clients
- Experience transitioning from a delivery or support position into a customer-owning role
