Job Description

Zoox develops a comprehensive, custom-built autonomous mobility platform from the ground up. Within this ecosystem, the System Behavior Analysis team acts as the primary group responsible for triaging software defects and driving events captured by the company's autonomous vehicle fleet and extensive simulation systems, converting raw operational data into actionable engineering signals.

Operating within the Platform Software Integration organization, this Technical Program Manager position treats operational triage as an integrated data and systems challenge. The role bridges vehicle fleets and simulation with upstream engineering fixes, downstream validation, and final releases. Professionals in this position collaborate closely with software development, software integration, quality assurance, safety, product, vehicle operations, and the Program Management Office.

This opportunity suits technical leaders who approach complex engineering operations with a data-driven mindset, excel at aligning cross-functional teams without direct authority, and thrive when structuring ambiguous environments into clear execution plans. Candidates will manage critical triage workflows, shape internal tooling automation, and provide actionable risk assessments to company leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Manage triage accuracy and routing by overseeing review sessions to classify and route defects, high-severity live-service issues, and safety-critical events to appropriate downstream teams
  • Monitor and optimize triage health by tracking key metrics including throughput, misclassification rates, processing latency, backlog aging, automation coverage, and regulatory-reportable events
  • Deliver decision-ready updates and early risk flags to leadership based on operational metrics
  • Program-manage triage tooling and automation by gathering requirements for dedicated tooling teams, prioritizing automation efforts, and tracking delivery and adoption
  • Maintain intake pathways, escalation criteria, and shared tracking boards utilized by partner departments
  • Establish quarterly triage commitments and forecast resource demand across onshore, offshore, and vendor teams

Requirements

  • Accumulate at least three years of professional experience in technical program management or engineering operations
  • Demonstrate a systems-oriented background with the ability to analyze hardware and software systems as interconnected components
  • Possess data fluency including the ability to write custom queries and build dashboards using high-volume operational data
  • Demonstrate experience creating light operational tooling and partnering with engineering teams to automate manual tasks
  • Exhibit stakeholder leadership capabilities to align cross-functional teams without direct authority
  • Show a proven history of organizing ambiguous or complex objectives into structured workstreams, milestones, and ownership areas

Qualifications

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in a technical field or possess equivalent practical experience
  • Gain background experience in autonomous vehicles, robotics, or other safety-critical industries
  • Familiarity with simulation environments, log replay procedures, or regression testing
  • Experience managing internal software tools or automation initiatives through full adoption
  • Proficiency in Python or SQL, alongside Jira and Confluence
