Job Description
Ruby Labs is hiring a contract Accounting Automation Engineer to remove hand-run bookkeeping across many legal entities and countries. Ruby Labs is a technology company that creates and operates consumer products in health, education and entertainment. The role is remote and open to applicants from any country within roughly four hours of Central European Time. The posting says the company builds agentic AI systems rather than fixed workflows, and it considers experience with rule-based builders like n8n or Zapier irrelevant.
The engineer would turn the repetitive heart of enterprise accounting into automated processes. Accounts payable work includes capturing invoice data from PDFs and email, vendor matching, duplicate detection, approval routing and payment runs. Accounts receivable covers invoicing, cash application, aging and collections reminders, credit notes and provision support. Reconciliation work spans bank and card accounts, balance sheet accounts and intercompany items, with exception reports that flag only what needs review. The role also supports month-end close through checklists, recurring and accrual journals, depreciation runs, FX revaluation, trial balance checks and draft variance commentary, along with expense checks, master data upkeep, audit evidence and data pipelines between systems.
The posting weighs two things most heavily: IFRS or US GAAP expertise, and practical use of AI coding assistants (Claude Code preferred), supported by strong engineering fundamentals. Candidates should have built automations in Python or JavaScript or TypeScript, be able to schedule jobs, and be comfortable with APIs, MCP servers and CSV, Excel and basic SQL data. Accounting credentials such as ACCA, ACA or CPA are one route, and several years of practical accounting work is another. Nice-to-have items include multi-currency environments, payment processor reconciliation, indirect tax and e-invoicing knowledge, and ERP API experience. The posting does not state a pay rate. Listed benefits include unlimited PTO, paid national holidays, a company MacBook where needed and a flexible independent contractor agreement.

- Handle expense checks, chart of accounts hygiene, audit evidence collection and data pipelines between ERP, banks and payment platforms
Requirements
- Solid grounding in IFRS or US GAAP

- ACCA, ACA, CPA or an equivalent credential, or several years working hands-on in accounting
