Coinbase is seeking an Analytics Engineer Intern to join its Platform division for a 12-week summer internship in 2027. This position focuses on building trustworthy data infrastructure to support decision-making across the publicly traded crypto company.
This internship suits students or individuals pursuing quantitative fields who want hands-on experience creating production-scale data systems. Interns will receive mentorship from senior analytics engineers while working on modeling complex information and developing scalable pipelines.
During the program, participants will design dimensional models, write and maintain data pipelines using SQL, and collaborate with various internal stakeholders. The role also involves leveraging generative AI tools to improve workflow efficiency, documentation, and data modeling while maintaining human oversight. Candidates will troubleshoot data quality concerns and set up monitors to prevent downstream errors.

Responsibilities
- Build and maintain dimensional data models to convert raw information into reliable datasets for product teams, analysts, and data scientists
- Develop SQL data pipelines that adhere to production standards for freshness, quality, and documentation
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to identify data requirements and provide structured datasets or dashboards for self-serve analytics
- Use generative AI tools to optimize data modeling, development, and documentation processes
- Detect and fix data quality issues by establishing tests and monitors
Requirements
- Currently pursue a degree in computer science, statistics, economics, data science, or a related quantitative field, or possess equivalent experience
- Show proficiency in SQL through past internships, projects, or coursework, including complex queries with window functions, joins, and aggregations
- Demonstrate familiarity with at least one programming language, with a preference for Python
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences via documentation, dashboards, project presentations, or teamwork
- Apply generative AI responsibly with human oversight to improve workflow quality, cost, and efficiency
