Toptal is hiring an Apigee Engineer to work remotely on a full-time basis for a global leader in the food and beverage industry recognized worldwide. This engagement requires daily schedule overlap with Eastern Standard Time working hours. The position focuses on leading high-level technical initiatives bridging business and technology, specifically supporting Apigee and Apigee Hybrid deployed within AKS and AWS environments.
This role is well-suited for a technical professional who can maintain application infrastructure efficiency, provide hands-on implementation, and offer technical guidance for IT infrastructure products. Responsibilities include enterprise-level platform support, managing builds, handling patches, executing vulnerability management, and driving continuous platform improvements. The professional will collaborate with technology partners, vendors, and peers to automate patch deployment, resolve technical roadblocks, and support microservices and APIs.
The successful candidate will direct daily risk and control operations, establish API support processes, and manage security certificates within cloud environments. Candidates should expect a long-term engagement supporting vital enterprise architecture. Equal opportunity employment applies.
Responsibilities
- Lead high-level technical concepts bridging technology and business for Apigee and Apigee Hybrid in AKS and AWS.
- Maintain the health, efficiency, and continuous improvement of enterprise application infrastructure.
- Provide hands-on implementation and technical guidance for IT infrastructure management products.
- Automate platform builds, patches, vulnerability management, change management, incident management, and monitoring.
- Collaborate with peers, partners, and vendors to automate patch rollouts and resolve issues.
- Support and manage APIs and microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
- Create, organize, and implement API support processes.
- Support and deploy API policies using the Apigee platform.
- Work with the Apigee Developer Portal and Drupal integration.
- Perform cloud security and certificate management.
- Develop long-range plans to resolve problems and prevent recurrences.
- Direct daily operational risk and control flow focusing on policies, procedures, and work standards.
Requirements
- Experience with the Apigee API Management Platform, Apigee, OAuth administration, and JWT.
- Experience creating, organizing, and implementing API support processes.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with Red Hat Linux or UNIX.
- Kubernetes experience for containerized implementations.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Java or scripting and automation using Python, Shell, or similar languages.
- Minimum 5 years of experience supporting application platforms.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines to deploy proxies across multiple environments.
Qualifications
- Experience supporting API policies using Apigee Hybrid on Azure or AWS.
- Understanding of OpenAPI Specifications in JSON or YAML format, including JWT authorizations.
- Knowledge of authentication and authorization of services using OAuth 2.
- Experience supporting and managing REST APIs and microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
- Experience using POSTMAN for making management API calls.
- Knowledge and understanding of AppDynamics, Splunk, and Kafka.
