GitLab is hiring a Senior Frontend Engineer for its Repository Management team within the Source Code stage. GitLab provides an intelligent orchestration platform designed for DevSecOps to increase developer productivity, enhance operational efficiency, mitigate security and compliance risks, and accelerate digital transformation.
In this role, you will work on one of GitLab's oldest and most intricate product areas, utilizing Vue.js and GraphQL to build intuitive interfaces and safety guardrails for human developers and artificial intelligence agents alike. You will help configure repositories securely, maintain high system reliability, and address legacy constraints while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams across Europe and North America.
This position is ideal for an experienced frontend practitioner who understands complex policy or permissions management in web applications, values high standards of code quality and accessibility, and embraces artificial intelligence tools as productivity multipliers in daily workflows.
Responsibilities
- Develop secure, performant, and well-tested features using Vue.js and GraphQL
- Partner with product management, design, and user experience team members to create accessible and responsive interfaces
- Collaborate across multiple functions and teams through both asynchronous and synchronous communication
- Incorporate artificial intelligence agents into well-scoped tasks to accelerate delivery while critically reviewing outputs
- Write maintainable code that aligns with GitLab standards and participate in code reviews
- Monitor production health metrics, engage in Tier 2 on-call duties, resolve incidents, and improve system observability
Requirements
- Professional experience with Vue.js or alternative modern JavaScript frameworks like React, Angular, or Ember
- Experience utilizing GraphQL for API integration and data management
- Understanding of semantic HTML, CSS, core JavaScript concepts, responsive design, accessibility standards, and frontend performance best practices
- Experience addressing complex policy, permission, or rule-based problems within web applications
- Experience writing frontend unit and acceptance tests with tools such as Jest, Karma, Jasmine, Mocha, ava, or tape
- Familiarity with collaborative code review processes and professional Git usage
- Proficient English communication skills for an asynchronous and remote working environment
Qualifications
- Track record of utilizing artificial intelligence coding agents within a large monorepo, including scoping, reviewing, and identifying tool limitations
