LaunchDarkly is currently hiring multiple Backend Engineers for remote positions. The company provides a software delivery platform that assists engineering organizations with releasing features safely, experimenting, managing cloud infrastructure, and handling AI systems. As part of the engineering team, you will design, construct, and manage production APIs and distributed systems that evaluate trillions of feature flags daily.
This role suits professionals who want to shape the next generation of software development tools. Team members handle end-to-end project execution from initial concept through production deployment. Daily tasks involve collaborating across product, design, and support departments to build scalable solutions while balancing performance, security, and maintainability.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, test, and operate production services and APIs
- Lead projects or meaningful components from problem definition to deployment
- Balance scalability, performance, reliability, security, maintainability, and delivery speed
- Maintain and improve system observability through metrics, logs, traces, and alerts
- Collaborate with Product, Design, Support, and Customer Success teams
- Participate in design discussions and code reviews
- Investigate production incidents and apply operational lessons to future updates
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience building and operating production software
- Solid software engineering fundamentals covering data structures, algorithms, testing, debugging, and API design
- Proficiency with a backend programming language such as Go, Python, or Rust
- Background in building reliable, observable, and maintainable services for growing usage
- Ability to explain technical decisions clearly to technical and non-technical partners
