Job Description

Rula is a mental healthcare company that calls itself remote-first and hires in most US states, excluding Hawaii. Its approach looks at the whole person and aims to make mental healthcare evidence-based and compassionate. This business development role concentrates on growth through benefit consultants and health plans.

The manager forges deep-trust alliances with consultant and health plan sales groups so the middle-market and national-account pipeline keeps growing. The role leads client conversations from discovery through positioning and follow-up, and works through both self-funded and fully insured plan structures. Up to 20 percent travel is part of the job.

Success depends on prospecting through several channels, uncovering pain points, creating a sense of urgency, and turning partner relationships into employer opportunities. The manager keeps CRM records meticulously and runs a structured pipeline.

A strong applicant brings five years in healthcare at an insurer, consultancy or EAP vendor, along with five years of customer-facing selling or account work. Time at a fast-scaling mental health firm, EAP knowledge, and West Coast ties or a solid regional network would help. The role is fully remote, with medical, dental, vision and 401(k) benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Develop alliances with benefit advisers and the sales staff at health plans
  • Grow the mid-market and national-account funnel
  • Lead client conversations from discovery through positioning and follow-up
  • Explain self-funded and fully insured structures, medical plan design and EAP programs
  • Prospect through several channels and surface client pain points
  • Maintain precise CRM records and manage pipeline stages
  • Travel up to 20 percent to meet partners and prospects

Requirements

  • At least five years in healthcare at a carrier or consulting firm, or with an EAP provider
  • Five-plus years in customer-facing selling or account roles
  • Track record of earning trust within consultant and health plan communities
  • Past management of consultant or health plan relationships, solo or shared
  • Multichannel prospecting and discovery skills
  • Understanding of funding arrangements and plan designs
  • Ability to run client conversations from start to finish
  • Based in the United States (not Hawaii)

Qualifications

  • At least one year at a high-growth startup in mental health
  • At least one year at an EAP organization, or deep familiarity with the EAP space
  • West Coast location or primary relationships there
  • Ability to tailor pitches and handle complex objections
  • Meticulous approach to keeping CRM data clean

Core Skills

Benefits

  • Fully remote work with flexible working hours
  • Medical, dental, vision, life and disability coverage, plus FSA and HSA options
  • 401(k) plan access
  • Generous time off, including two company-wide shutdown weeks a year for most employees
  • Paid parental leave for all parents
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Quarterly department stipend
  • Home office stipend and a $50 monthly stipend for internet or phone
  • Wellness program with a $50 monthly wellness stipend
