Job Description
Monzo is hiring a Senior Controls Product Manager for its recently formed Controls Product and Enablement group, which belongs to the Controls Discipline in the first line of defence. The job is full-time and can be based in London or handled remotely within the UK. The stated base pay is £85,000 to £115,000, plus incentive awards and benefits. Two existing team members, both data and automation specialists, would report into the post.
The group treats the control framework, its tooling and data pipelines as a product built for internal users, helping engineers, PMs and business leads move quickly and stay safe. The manager would own the product roadmap for core risk lifecycles covering issues, risk and control self-assessments, controls, policy and regulatory traceability. The goal is to swap manual, periodic checks for data-led platforms that use low-code tools, SmartSuite, Zango, Looker and AI.
The post is hands-on. The manager would prototype workflows, API links and low-code tools, carrying an idea from problem statement to a working minimum viable product, and test large language models and automated evidence collection. The role also moves the function from annual snapshots toward continuous monitoring, with data triggers that alert risk owners as events happen. It involves supporting first line risk owners and keeping delivery moving without unnecessary bureaucracy.
The ideal candidate thinks like a product manager, can use SQL, Python, APIs or low-code platforms to build a prototype, and understands core risk ideas such as control design, RCSAs and issue management. Comfort with uncertainty, a first-principles approach, and experience leading change programmes, preferably in financial services controls, are all important. A background limited to writing requirements for others to build may not suit.

- Experience leading change programmes, ideally in financial services controls
