Job Description

Databricks, the data and artificial intelligence company utilized by over twenty thousand organizations globally, is hiring a Deployment Strategist for a remote position based in India. This role is part of the newly established Forward Deployed Engineering initiative, which aims to secure high-value AI opportunities by delivering complete outcomes rather than just software platforms. As a member of this founding group, the successful candidate will work closely with major clients from initial sales conversations through to fully operational production solutions. Serving as the primary product manager for client challenges, this position bridges business requirements with technical execution alongside engineering counterparts.

The person in this role will handle executive discovery, value quantification, pilot scoping, and product requirement document creation. Responsibilities include directing agile engineering builds, overseeing quality assurance testing, managing stakeholder expectations from the C-suite downward, and leading production launches toward full adoption. This opportunity suits professionals who possess both executive communication abilities and technical depth in modern data architectures. Candidates should expect to travel and work on-site with clients frequently, often between twenty-five and fifty percent of the time or higher.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with sales teams to perform deep discovery, map organizational landscapes, quantify business value, and establish pilot timelines and success criteria
  • Author product requirement documents, prioritize engineering backlogs, manage scope, and serve as the primary hands-on quality assurance tester
  • Lead the engineering build team through agile delivery processes while managing stakeholders and removing technical roadblocks
  • Spearhead technical discovery, analyze data flows and integration constraints, evaluate architecture choices, and identify risks early
  • Manage production launches, operate war rooms, gather user feedback, and ensure production readiness across security, performance, and data quality
  • Create maintenance plans, draft customer documentation and training materials, and codify reusable solution patterns for engineering teams

Requirements

  • Demonstrate executive presence, communication skills, and the ability to build rapport quickly with senior stakeholders
  • Show product judgment to define scope, write requirements, prioritize work, and guide complex software projects to measurable outcomes
  • Understand modern data and AI architectures including cloud platforms, pipelines, distributed systems, APIs, security, governance, and machine learning
  • Possess hands-on technical ability in at least one programming language such as Python, Java, or SQL to review code, explore data, and build prototypes
  • Bring seven or more years of experience delivering complex data, analytics, AI, or software engagements, or equivalent experience as a founder or technical builder

Qualifications

  • Experience working in a high-growth technology company, a forward-deployed organization, or a leading consultancy
  • Background in helping deliver machine learning or generative AI systems into production environments
