Job Description

Databricks is seeking a Sr. Security Engineer, Enterprise Security to join their team on a remote basis. Databricks operates as a data and AI company, providing a unified platform utilized by over 20,000 organizations worldwide, including 70% of the Fortune 500, to build and scale analytics, data and AI apps, and agents. Headquartered in San Francisco with more than 30 global offices, the company utilizes technologies such as Lakehouse, Lakeflow, Lakebase, Unity Catalog, Genie, and Agent Bricks.

In this role, the selected professional will safeguard corporate environments including SaaS platforms, internal tools, automation workflows, AI-adjacent systems, and integrations. Working at the intersection of security engineering, enterprise architecture, and business enablement, the engineer will partner with IT, Legal, Engineering, Privacy, and Procurement teams to establish enforceable security standards and surface risks early. Responsibilities include building security control engineering and implementation, developing security automations and integrations using Python or Go, performing continuous control validation and remediation, and collaborating across cross-functional engineering teams. This position suits individuals with extensive security engineering backgrounds who excel at turning security requirements into working protections, building automation to eliminate manual tasks, and deploying scalable preventive controls across enterprise platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and improve preventive security controls across enterprise systems by turning approved security requirements into operational protections
  • Partner with security domain leads, platform owners, and IT to deploy guardrails across access, configuration, endpoint, network, and data protection
  • Develop reusable technical implementations and secure configuration patterns to enhance consistency and minimize recurring security gaps
  • Build and maintain security automation using Python, Go, APIs, Terraform, or comparable technologies to boost operational efficiency and control enforcement
  • Automate recurring configuration checks, remediation workflows, access validation, and evidence collection
  • Create and integrate AI-assisted and agent-based security automation equipped with proper access controls, testing, and auditability
  • Integrate enterprise systems and security platforms to streamline review and approval workflows while ensuring consistent enforcement
  • Design automated testing, monitoring, and validation capabilities to verify that security controls operate as intended
  • Spot control gaps, drift in configuration, and ineffective enforcement, working alongside system owners to implement and validate fixes
  • Measure enhancements in automation reliability, security coverage, control effectiveness, and reduction of manual labor
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Security, business-system owners, IT, and Engineering to deliver security updates across interconnected enterprise platforms
  • Troubleshoot complex implementation obstacles related to authentication, permissions, API integrations, configurations, and security tooling
  • Contribute to Security by Design efforts by translating regular security needs into automated checks, reusable controls, and secure defaults

Requirements

  • Possess at least 7 years of professional experience in security engineering, infrastructure security, enterprise security, cloud security, or a relevant domain
  • Demonstrate hands-on background implementing, integrating, testing, and maintaining security controls in production enterprise settings
  • Bring strong programming and automation capabilities using Python, Go, or comparable languages, including version control, infrastructure-as-code, and API integrations
  • Show experience engineering security controls across one or more areas such as endpoint, identity, SaaS, cloud, data protection, or network
  • Exhibit a solid grasp of authentication, authorization, single sign-on, OAuth, API security, service identities, secrets management, and least-privilege principles
  • Display experience building automated security checks, configuration validation, remediation workflows, and drift detection
  • Have hands-on background creating or integrating AI-assisted or agent-based security automation, featuring appropriate testing, access controls, monitoring, and auditability
  • Demonstrate the ability to translate approved security specifications into preventive controls, address implementation roadblocks, and confirm control effectiveness
  • Apply reliable software engineering practices such as CI/CD, automated testing, operational monitoring, and error handling
  • Show the capability to independently deliver security engineering improvements while collaborating with platform owners, IT, and security teams

Qualifications

  • Experience implementing security controls across multiple enterprise security domains rather than specializing in a single discipline
  • Familiarity with enterprise security solutions and platforms such as Jamf, Okta, CrowdStrike, Google Workspace, Prisma Access, or similar tools
  • Background utilizing specialized policy-as-code frameworks like Rego, Open Policy Agent, or comparable enforcement technologies
  • Experience securing enterprise AI and data platforms, including Databricks or equivalent technologies
  • Experience operating in fast-growing or large-scale SaaS and cloud environments
