The company seeks a Devices and IoT Field Engineering Manager to direct a regionally focused team within the Americas, EMEA, or APAC. This position involves leading professional services and presales operations, guiding solution architecture, and helping clients build secure connected device ecosystems using Ubuntu and Ubuntu Core. Successful candidates combine deep technical expertise in Linux with personnel management capabilities, a passion for client success, and an eagerness to mentor colleagues through continuous professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a regional team of field engineers ranging from graduate to senior levels across presales and professional services
  • Plan and drive progress on agreed goals, projects, and key performance indicators
  • Partner closely with the leadership team and champion organizational and engineering excellence
  • Solve customer problems by promoting company technologies and acting as a trusted advisor
  • Implement disciplined engineering processes and identify team health indicators
  • Represent the team and products to external stakeholders, partners, and customers
  • Provide actionable market feedback to internal Product and Engineering groups

Requirements

  • Extensive embedded Linux experience using Yocto or similar frameworks
  • Extensive Linux experience, with Debian or Ubuntu preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a small team
  • Prior experience handling customer engagements
  • Professional written and spoken English proficiency
  • Ability to work remotely within a single major time zone in the Americas, EMEA, or APAC
  • Capacity to travel internationally up to two weeks twice a year

Qualifications

  • Exceptional academic track record spanning high school and university levels
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a compelling narrative regarding an alternative chosen path
  • Experience with real-time operating systems
  • Knowledge of additional programming or human languages
  • Previous work history within a remote-first, diverse, and distributed organization
