This fully remote position involves guiding field engineers through presales and professional services operations, helping clients build secure connected devices, appliances, and control systems. The organization operates globally with a distributed workforce spanning over 75 countries and minimal office-based roles.
This role is ideal for a hands-on technologist and team leader who enjoys fast-paced client engagements and dynamic technology environments. The position requires managing staff ranging from graduate level to senior engineers, tracking performance metrics, driving organizational practices, and acting as a trusted advisor to solve client challenges. Employees gather in person approximately two to four times a year in varied international locations for strategy alignment, and travel internationally up to twice annually for company events lasting up to two weeks.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a regional team of field engineers across graduate to senior levels focused on presales and professional services
- Plan and track progress on designated projects and strategic objectives
- Collaborate with the leadership team to establish and champion engineering excellence
- Coach staff and provide ongoing career development feedback
- Advocate for company technologies to help resolve customer problems and serve as a trusted technical advisor
- Operate remotely within a single major time zone aligned with the managed team
- Monitor team health indicators and implement structured engineering workflows
- Represent the team and products to partners, stakeholders, and clients
- Gather and relay market insights back to product and engineering departments
Requirements
- Extensive background in Linux, with Debian or Ubuntu preferred
- Extensive experience with embedded Linux, including Yocto or alternatives
- Demonstrated ability to manage a small team
- Prior experience managing customer engagements
- Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
- Strong interpersonal skills coupled with curiosity, flexibility, and accountability

- Ability to articulate the business value of technology
- Availability to travel internationally up to twice a year for company events lasting up to two weeks
