ServiceNow is hiring a Director of Software Engineering to lead the Workplace engineering pillar within the CRM and Industry Workflows engineering organisation. This position is based in Hyderabad and requires full-time employment. The leadership role oversees Workplace Service Delivery along with adjacent integrations with Customer Service Management and Field Service Management, driving experiences that handle numerous service interactions for enterprise customers.
The position requires a leader focused on an AI-native engineering system rather than traditional software management. Responsibilities include guiding engineering managers, setting standards for architectural soundness and verification rigor, and collaborating with product management and user experience teams to shape the Workplace roadmap. Candidates will design verification and guardrail harnesses, oversee context engineering, and manage production AI reliability. The role also involves forward deployed engineering engagements, partnering closely with strategic customers to accelerate adoption and translate field insights back into core product priorities.
Responsibilities
- Lead and grow an AI-native engineering organisation by managing two to three engineering managers.
- Shift team metrics from implementation speed to specification quality, architectural soundness, and verification rigor.
- Collaborate with product management and user experience teams to define, own, and execute the Workplace Service Delivery roadmap.
- Design guardrail systems, automated tests, evaluation suites, and CI/CD quality gates for agent-generated output.
- Manage AI reliability in production by monitoring for hallucinations, behavioral drift, and safety regressions.
- Establish standards for web and mobile software quality while maintaining security-minded practices against prompt injection and data leaks.
- Participate in forward deployed engineering engagements to work alongside strategic customers, accelerate time-to-value, and co-develop solutions.
Requirements
- Possess at least 15 years of experience designing and shipping scalable enterprise software products with a background in technical leadership.
- Demonstrate a track record of building and leading engineering teams that delivered production systems using AI-native methods and autonomous agent architectures.
- Exhibit fluency in agentic artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, context engineering, verification harness design, and outcome evaluation.
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills to operate as a credible technical voice with executives and stakeholders.
- Show expertise in data structures, algorithms, system design, data modeling, and artificial intelligence or machine learning fundamentals.
Qualifications
- Experience in CRM, ITSM, workplace service delivery, or related enterprise domains.
- Familiarity with the ServiceNow platform, scoped application architecture, Glide APIs, or platform engineering at scale.
- Hands-on exposure to multi-tenant SaaS architecture and shipping to thousands of enterprise customers simultaneously.
- Experience building and operating agentic systems in regulated or enterprise-compliance contexts.
- Prior experience managing distributed engineering organisations across time zones.
