Job Description

Fieldguide seeks a Director, Audit Transformation to spearhead the transition from traditional financial audits to an agentic operating model. Operating remotely, this position reports directly to the Head of Audit and acts as a bridge between the company platform and the accounting profession. The incoming leader will define how financial audit agents are designed, adopted, and scaled across the customer base, ensuring workflows meet professional standards and withstand regulatory scrutiny.

The organization builds automation software powered by artificial intelligence agents for assurance and audit practitioners, backed by investors such as Goldman Sachs Alternatives and Bessemer Venture Partners. More than half of the top-100 CPA firms utilize the platform. This role suits an experienced audit professional eager to shape the future of the industry rather than refine legacy procedures.

  • Serve as the audit domain expert in product discovery, roadmap planning, and prioritization for agent-based workflows
  • Collaborate with AI architects and engineers to establish prompts, workflows, and guardrails for integrated testing agents
  • Determine procedure suitability for agent execution, required autonomy levels, and documentation standards for regulatory inspections
  • Pressure-test emerging agent capabilities alongside practitioners to maintain a continuous feedback loop
  • Own the customer transformation playbook, maturity model, and program structure jointly with Customer Success
  • Act as executive sponsor and audit subject-matter expert for strategic account transformation engagements
  • Represent the company externally through written materials, webinars, speaking engagements, and industry relationships
  • Monitor regulatory and standard-setting updates from the PCAOB, AICPA, and SEC to inform product and messaging strategies
  • Partner with Sales and Solutions Engineering on executive briefings, product demonstrations, and technical validations

Requirements

  • CPA certification
  • Minimum of 10 years of financial audit experience at a public accounting firm
  • Background in senior leadership, national office, or innovation and transformation exposure
  • Direct experience interacting with regulatory and standard-setting bodies
  • Proven experience designing or scaling repeatable transformation or change-management programs
  • Deep expertise in auditing standards and audit methodologies
  • Familiarity with audit technology, automation, AI-enabled tools, templates, or workpapers
  • Working knowledge of quality control and quality management standards related to methodology and documentation
  • Cross-functional collaboration skills with product and engineering teams
  • Executive presence suitable for leading demonstrations and validation sprints in front of firm leadership and regulators

Qualifications

  • Active involvement with the AICPA, state CPA societies, or standard-setting bodies
  • Experience building or scaling firm-wide innovation or transformation initiatives
  • Background in audit methodology, quality, or national office roles
  • Expertise in international auditing standards and methodologies
  • Experience utilizing LLM-based or agentic workflows, prompt design, or AI-enabled audit tooling
