Job Description
GitLab operates an intelligent orchestration platform for DevSecOps, assisting organizations in elevating developer productivity, strengthening operational efficiency, cutting down compliance risks, and speeding up digital transformation. The company seeks a Director of Engineering for Dedicated Infrastructure & Platforms to direct the engineering division overseeing GitLab Dedicated, which serves as the enterprise single-tenant SaaS offering tailored for regulated industries and the public sector.
In this position, you will guide managers and engineers managing the full lifecycle of cellular and dedicated platforms, covering everything from resilience, integrations, and incident response to switchboard APIs, public sector compliance, and enterprise customer migrations. Your primary objective is driving growth, scaling the offering, ensuring enterprise-grade service level agreements, and aligning the architecture with cellular models. You will formulate strategies for single-tenant and public sector SaaS platforms, manage infrastructure investments, guarantee operational readiness for compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, and build self-service migration tooling.
Ideal candidates will have a background in leading engineering organizations that manage enterprise single or multi-tenant SaaS infrastructure and cloud platforms at scale. You should possess expertise in cloud-native and cellular architectures, Infrastructure as Code, and modular services. Furthermore, you must have experience operating under strict compliance standards like AWS GovCloud and FedRAMP, translating financial metrics into execution roadmaps, and incorporating artificial intelligence workflows into daily engineering tasks.

- Partner with product and executive leaders to achieve growth targets centered on reliability, customer onboarding speed, and cost efficiency
- Lead engineering teams building tenant orchestration, resilience systems, switchboard control planes, public sector platforms, and migration tools
- Uphold enterprise-grade service level agreements across all tenants
- Deliver GitLab Dedicated for Government through AWS GovCloud infrastructure, air-gapped isolation, and FedRAMP compliance operations
- Create predictable, repeatable, and low-disruption self-service migration workflows for enterprise customers
- Hire, coach, and scale engineering managers across distributed teams while integrating AI-enabled workflows
- Collaborate with Product, Security, and Customer Support to align customer commitments, architecture, and investments
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience leading engineering organizations that run enterprise single or multi-tenant SaaS infrastructure and cloud platforms at scale

- Hands-on experience delivering and operating enterprise offerings under strict compliance regimes including FedRAMP and AWS GovCloud
- Experience leading organizational changes, such as implementing AI-enabled workflows to raise system efficiencies
- Ability to translate financial targets into engineering investments, headcount plans, and execution roadmaps
