Job Description
CertiK is seeking a Director of Product, AML & Digital Asset Compliance to shape and lead the creation of institutional risk and compliance solutions. Established in 2017 by academic researchers from Columbia and Yale, the company provides end-to-end security and compliance services for the digital asset ecosystem, supported by prominent investors like Goldman Sachs, Coatue, and Sequoia Capital. This is an external product leadership position rather than an internal compliance job, tasking the director with building software utilized by risk teams, investigators, anti-money laundering professionals, and chief compliance officers.
The person in this role will drive the entire product lifecycle from initial discovery and strategy through engineering execution, launch, adoption, and scaling. Responsibilities include working directly with virtual asset service providers, fintech entities, exchanges, and financial institutions to discover core market problems, defining risk models and workflows, and collaborating cross-functionally with data science, engineering, business development, and compliance experts. Ideal candidates bring significant business-to-business product management experience within regtech, fintech, compliance, or digital assets, along with deep expertise in financial crime workflows and strong commercial instincts.
Responsibilities
- Establish the product vision, roadmap, and strategic direction for anti-money laundering and digital asset compliance offerings.
- Engage with prospective buyers, Chief Compliance Officers, risk leaders, and investigators to uncover unaddressed workflow challenges.
- Filter individual customer requests to isolate repeatable market needs that can transform into scalable products.
- Convert market insights into actionable engineering priorities, product concepts, requirements, and prototypes.
- Oversee products through all development phases, including design, technical delivery, market introduction, and ongoing iteration.
- Outline decision frameworks, risk models, user experiences, and key operational workflows for institutional compliance teams.
- Partner with data and engineering teams to balance product capabilities with technical trade-offs.
- Collaborate with business development teams during strategic sales processes, product demonstrations, and customer pilots.
- Translate shifting regulatory obligations regarding digital assets, sanctions, and anti-money laundering into software features.
- Track performance utilizing user adoption rates, product engagement metrics, enterprise sales wins, and expansion outcomes.
Requirements
- Significant experience managing business-to-business software products in digital assets, financial services, fintech, regtech, risk, or compliance.
- Demonstrated history of steering products from initial discovery phases through official launch and market adoption.
- Comprehensive knowledge regarding anti-money laundering, financial crime, transaction monitoring, sanctions, and investigation workflows.
- Prior background creating or working alongside systems like risk engines, blockchain analytics, wallet screening, case management, and transaction monitoring tools.
- Demonstrated ability to perform customer discovery, communicate effectively with compliance analysts, and translate findings into product choices.
- Sound product judgment to distinguish between one-off customer requests and broader market requirements while executing difficult prioritization decisions.
- Commercial awareness regarding enterprise product adoption, pricing, and expansion.
- Capacity to thrive and drive execution independently in ambiguous, early-stage product environments.
Qualifications
- Product creation experience at a bank, exchange, regtech, fintech, blockchain analytics firm, or financial infrastructure business.
- Familiarity with on-chain investigations, know-your-transaction processes, wallet screening, or digital asset risk management.
- Background working as a compliance officer, anti-money laundering practitioner, money laundering reporting officer, investigator, or financial crime specialist.
- Experience engaging with regulated financial institutions regarding product procurement, evaluation, implementation, and operation.
- Exposure to regulatory examinations, financial crime remediation, or virtual asset service provider licensing.
- Possession of CAMS or another relevant professional certification.
- Existing relationships with compliance and risk stakeholders across banks, fintechs, exchanges, virtual asset service providers, regulators, or law enforcement agencies.
