Headquartered in Bedford, Massachusetts, the firm is seeking an Executive Director or Vice President of Patient and Provider Support to join its remote workforce.
This full-time leadership position focuses on establishing national reimbursement frameworks, managing large field personnel, and eliminating access hurdles for specialty pharmaceuticals, specifically preparing the infrastructure for an upcoming product rollout in Retina. The role suits a seasoned leader capable of building operational capabilities from the ground up, directing third-party and internal patient services, and tracking performance through measurable patient outcomes.
The chosen candidate will collaborate closely with internal departments including corporate accounts, market access, commercial operations, finance, legal, compliance, and sales. Responsibilities encompass shaping long-term hub program strategies, directing field reimbursement directors, monitoring payer policies and billing codes, driving technology adoption such as AI solutions, and overseeing operational budgets. Travel of up to fifty percent of the time is expected for this position.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute long-term provider reimbursement, patient access, adherence, and hub program strategies for current portfolios and new product introductions.
- Lead and scale a team comprising Field Reimbursement Directors, Managers, Patient Services Hub Operations, and case managers.
- Formulate the go-to-market plan for the field reimbursement team and oversee support tools that simplify provider workflows.
- Manage internal and third-party operations to maximize data analytics and service delivery for caregivers and patients.
- Track commercial, state, and federal payer policies, buy-and-bill dynamics, and billing codes to enhance performance.
- Partner with brand leadership to align on account prioritization and support product pull-through locally with sales and medical affairs.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators linked to patient outcomes.
- Implement innovative market technology solutions, including potential artificial intelligence applications.
- Maintain governance and compliance with applicable industry standards, laws, and company regulations.
- Manage financial planning and budget oversight for vendors, patient support initiatives, and field reimbursement.
Requirements
- Minimum of 15 years of professional experience within market access, patient services, reimbursement, or adjacent biotech and pharmaceutical functions.
- Minimum of 10 years in a leadership or management capacity overseeing people or functions.
- Comprehensive understanding of government and commercial payers for specialty products across specialty pharmacy and buy-and-bill pathways.
- Familiarity with prior authorization, appeal requirements, medical coding, claim submissions, and patient assistance program integrations.
- Demonstrated background in establishing strategic field reimbursement and patient access capabilities.
- Proven history of scaling operational capabilities to accommodate growth.
- Ability to travel up to 50 percent of the time.
