The company is currently hiring an Engineering Manager to guide the Accounts platform team through an upcoming structural split.
In this position, you will initially lead a nine-person cross-functional team of backend, mobile, and web engineers. Your immediate responsibility is to navigate the division of the Accounts team by separating the core financial ledger into a dedicated unit with its own SLOs, on-call rotations, and technical roadmap. Following this transition, you will assume leadership of the new Ledger Team, focusing on high-volume transaction processing, low latency, and strict consistency guarantees.
This opportunity is suited for a technical leader with a robust backend background who can actively engage with architecture, distributed systems design, and production challenges. You will collaborate with product, compliance, and internal operations units to maintain a reliable financial infrastructure that serves millions of users.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of nine engineers through the transition of splitting the Accounts platform
- Define the technical boundaries between the ledger and other account functions such as opening, lifecycle management, and statements
- Establish the long-term technical direction for the Ledger Team focusing on availability, performance, and consistency
- Oversee system stability and operational reliability by setting SLOs, implementing observability, and managing on-call procedures
- Partner with product, compliance, and internal operations teams to ensure regulatory compliance and accuracy across all markets
- Mentor and develop engineers ranging from early-career to senior levels
- Align with other engineering managers on cross-cutting infrastructure initiatives within the banking division
Requirements
- Demonstrated engineering management background leading teams through actual product delivery
- Solid backend engineering foundation before transitioning into a management role
- Experience leading distributed, remote-first teams operating across different time zones
- Background in fintech or banking domains familiar with strict regulatory environments
- Familiarity with high-volume distributed systems, including consistency models, fault tolerance, and reliability patterns
- Proficiency in a strongly-typed backend language such as Java, Python, or Go
- Practical experience with microservices architectures in a cloud-native AWS environment
- Experience managing relational databases at scale, covering transactions and write performance
Qualifications
- Experience with high-volume transaction processing in domains like payments or foreign exchange
- Background in event-driven and asynchronous systems
- Experience executing large-scale distributed system migrations
- Exposure to agentic or artificial intelligence integrated systems and engineering practices
