Job Description

This is a full-time, remote Engineering Manager role in Solutions Engineering. The team builds open source Python automation that simplifies operations for anyone building on Ubuntu, with a focus on infrastructure-as-code products and DevOps workflows. The aim is to make Canonical's platform the easiest and most robust option for running infrastructure.

The manager also writes code directly to set the standard, and helps the team focus on design, documentation, tests and performance. The role promotes agile practices and a healthy engineering culture in line with company values.

Applicants should have a track record of growing people and a passion for leading and mentoring Python developers. They should be knowledgeable about agile development and cloud computing concepts, comfortable administering Linux servers including storage and networking, and experienced with hands-on software automation. Being organised and keeping the team delivering quality software on schedule are essential. A degree in computer science or a related field, understanding of OpenStack or Kubernetes, operations experience and Go expertise are bonus points. Travel for internal and external events may take up to 10% of working time.
