Job Description
Flex is hiring a General Manager to lead its construction business. The employer builds an AI-native financial system designed for business owners, functioning as a full financial home covering banking, credit, payments, and financial operations. In this role, you will take end-to-end ownership of the construction sector strategy, partnership development, product priorities, and the resulting profit and loss. The position operates similarly to sector coverage at an investment bank, requiring you to determine key relationships, structure lucrative partnerships, and direct what products are needed to attract construction owners. You will report directly to the chief executive officer and will collaborate alongside product, credit, risk, and member experience teams.
The role suits a candidate with extensive experience in investment banking, private equity, private credit, venture capital, or a senior commercial construction role. You will be responsible for managing the sector profit and loss, mapping out industry influencers, driving direct origination through various events, setting product agendas, and building out a dedicated sector team as the client base grows. Candidates must be prepared to submit a comprehensive one-pager covering sector analysis, target products, industry maps, partnership strategies, and financial projections alongside their curriculum vitae during the application process.

- Own the sector profit and loss by tracking construction banking accounts and generated revenue weekly
- Identify and map out the top influencers and decision makers in the construction industry within the first ninety days

- Structure and negotiate high-impact partnerships such as trade associations, sureties, construction lenders, and enterprise resource planning integrations
- Direct product leadership on what construction owners require to shift their primary banking relationship
- Build and lead a dedicated sector team of account executives, account managers, and member experience professionals as pipeline volume grows
- Utilize AI-native tools for research, relationship tracking, outreach, and modeling
Requirements
- 7 to 12 years of experience in investment banking, private credit, private equity, venture capital, or a senior commercial seat inside construction

- Ability to structure partnerships, negotiate referral economics, and manage term sheets independently
- Proficiency in building financial models using banker-level Excel with a strong understanding of unit economics for deposits, cards, and credit
Qualifications
- Experience in fintech, banking, lending, or selling financial products to business owners
- Established standing in the construction sector such as a podcast, newsletter, conference stage, or trade body board seat
- Investing, advisory, or operating experience in a construction company
