Job Description
Wise seeks a Group Regulatory Affairs Lead for an on-site position based in London. This role involves establishing and executing a centralized global capability within the Group Core Compliance function. The employer holds over 80 regulatory licenses across Europe, the UK, North America, APAC, MEA, and LATAM, and is creating this dedicated function to elevate global regulatory relationship management.
Reporting directly to the Director of Group Core Compliance, the professional chosen for this position will act as the single source of truth regarding the strategic trajectory and status of regulatory relationships worldwide. Responsibilities include overseeing global relationships, developing relationship strategies, managing regulatory information governance, producing executive strategic reporting, sharing lessons learned across jurisdictions, facilitating cross-functional information sharing, and advising during regulatory incidents.
This position suits an autonomous problem solver with strong stakeholder management skills who can turn ambiguity into scalable structure. Candidates will bridge the gap between regional compliance officers, executive leadership, and functional partners such as legal, risk, government relations, and product teams to ensure the company communicates with supervisors globally using a unified voice.
Responsibilities
- Establish enterprise-wide visibility over the supervisory footprint and maintain a real-time overview of regional regulatory owners, touchpoints, open inquiries, inspections, and commitments across operating entities
- Collaborate with regional compliance officers and functional partners to anticipate supervisory shifts and formulate proactive engagement strategies
- Own the tracking framework for material regulatory correspondence, bilateral engagements, information requests, and notifications
- Design data-driven systems to produce management information for the Director of Group Compliance, executive leadership, boards, and risk committees
- Partner with regional compliance and product compliance teams to evaluate material supervisory inquiries and cascade lessons learned to protect parallel licenses
- Drive the operational cadence for cross-functional information sharing regarding high-impact supervisory developments and collective remediation
- Act as an advisor for core compliance during complex regulatory incidents to ensure aligned briefing and coordinated global messaging
Requirements
- Possess significant experience of 10 or more years in regulatory affairs, relations, or compliance within a financial institution or regulatory authority
- Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of how regulators operate, examine, and communicate, alongside experience managing complex regulatory interactions, audits, thematic inquiries, and executive briefing processes
- Show experience implementing structured tracking mechanisms, reporting cycles, and relationship management frameworks across multi-entity, cross-border corporate structures
- Demonstrate high emotional intelligence with strong written and verbal communication skills to distill complex regulatory dialogue into executive summaries
- Show the ability to comfortably challenge senior stakeholders on regulatory risk and operate autonomously with comfort around ambiguity
