Job Description
Tamara, a fintech platform active in Saudi Arabia and across the Gulf, is hiring a full-time Head of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) for a Saudi national position. The role leads the AML and counter-terrorist financing department. The reporting line runs to the CEO for administrative matters and to the Audit Committee for functional oversight. It is on-site and oversees the company's framework covering AML, counter-terror financing and proliferation-finance rules in Saudi Arabia.
The Head of AML is responsible for building and maintaining that framework so it meets Saudi AML statute and its executive rules, central bank requirements, filing duties owed to SAFIU and targeted financial sanctions rules. The role identifies financial crime risks across customers, products and channels, ensures controls are applied consistently and remediates gaps.
Day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing the AML unit's work, maintaining policies and procedures, and running enterprise-wide risk assessments. The role watches over sanctions controls, asset-freeze rules and screening of politically exposed persons, oversees transaction monitoring tuning and alert management, and ensures suspicious activity reports reach SAFIU accurately and on time. It also acts as the main contact for the central bank and the Financial Intelligence Unit, and reports regularly to the CEO and Audit Committee on risk exposure and control performance.
The posting requires a minimum of six years working in anti-money laundering, terror financing, financial crime or regulatory compliance, including management under central bank oversight. Deep knowledge of Saudi AML/CTF rules, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening and money laundering typologies is expected. Strong leadership, decision-making and stakeholder skills are needed, and the team must be developed and resourced. Because of central bank regulations, the company is hiring a Saudi national for this role.
