Wise is currently hiring a Lead Data Scientist to focus on KYC and Onboarding for their team located in London. This individual contributor position involves building and managing machine learning models and systems dedicated to document verification, helping to protect customers from criminal activity while ensuring a smooth onboarding journey for both consumers and businesses. The role requires working alongside cross-functional teams to ideate data science initiatives, handling large image and tabular datasets, iterating on deep learning image models, and maintaining a Python codebase according to industry standards.
This opportunity is well-suited for an experienced data professional who can explain complex data science concepts to diverse stakeholders and mentor junior team members. Wise offers a hybrid working model based out of their London office. Compensation ranges between GBP 90,500 and GBP 127,000 per year, determined by experience and interview results. Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and ideate data science projects
- Identify opportunities and advise on applying machine learning and data science methodologies
- Communicate the value, limitations, and potential effects of data science projects to various stakeholders
- Build and manage large tabular and image datasets associated with KYC workflows
- Enhance and iterate upon deep learning image models
- Track and optimize machine learning model performance
- Write and maintain a Python codebase following industry standards
- Research emerging machine learning techniques and explore incorporating them directly into production systems
- Study document verification methods to discover effective ways to stop criminal activity
- Mentor junior colleagues to support their skill development in data science
