Deloitte Africa seeks a Manager - Q&R IFRS Technical to deliver technical support and focused interventions to its audit practice concerning IFRS Accounting Standards. This position involves researching and resolving complex financial reporting questions, preparing and reviewing technical accounting papers, and evaluating financial statements for regulatory compliance. The role also requires assessing accounting developments to design practical guidance and learning interventions for audit teams.
The successful candidate will demonstrate sound technical judgment, strong technical writing capabilities, and the capacity to explain complicated accounting matters clearly to engagement teams and stakeholders. Responsibilities
- Provide technical support and focused interventions to the audit practice regarding IFRS Accounting Standards
- Research and resolve IFRS application questions originating from intricate transactions and financial reporting matters
- Prepare and review technical accounting papers and consultation responses with proper documentation and escalation
- Examine financial statements to ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards
- Evaluate new accounting developments to build practical guidance, implementation support, and learning materials for the audit practice
- Explain complicated accounting topics clearly to engagement teams and other stakeholders
- Manage competing demands, agree on realistic timelines, and communicate progress or delays early
- Take responsibility for advancing matters, follow through on commitments, and escalate unresolved issues promptly
- Maintain an evidence-based approach without compromising technical quality under deadline or stakeholder pressure
Requirements
- Three to five years of working experience, with two years in a management role
- Applied knowledge of IFRS Accounting Standards, including analyzing complex transactions and assessing recognition, measurement, presentation, and disclosure implications
- Demonstrated ability to research and interpret technical accounting requirements
- Sound technical judgment to evaluate alternative accounting treatments, challenge assumptions, and form well-supported conclusions
- Strong technical writing skills to produce clear and referenced accounting memoranda and consultation responses
- Familiarity with the MS Office suite and other technology related to the role
