Job Description

Gusto provides a platform handling payroll, health insurance, 401(k)s, and HR to help small businesses focus on their operations. The company is currently establishing its Professional Employer Organization sales division and seeks a quota-carrying account executive to join as a founding member.

This position suits a driven sales professional eager to help build a new sales motion from the ground up. The representative will manage end-to-end sales cycles, closing deals with entirely new prospects as well as converting existing software customers to the co-employment solution.

Daily work heavily incorporates artificial intelligence workflows for prospecting, preparation, follow-ups, and forecast management. Team members operate in a hybrid setting, requiring attendance at physical offices in designated locations approximately two to three days weekly, or on an approved remote schedule backed by reliable internet.

Total compensation structures feature a base pay paired with an uncapped commission framework, supplemented by standard health benefits, equity in the form of RSUs, and competitive remuneration based on geographic location and individual experience level.

  • Serve as an expert guide regarding compliance, co-employment regulations, benefits, and general employment law
  • Build pipeline capacity ahead of the peak selling window running from September through December
  • Cultivate relationships through broker, general agent, and accountant referral channels
  • Maintain clean CRM data within Salesforce and forecast accurately according to established team guidelines
  • Integrate artificial intelligence tools directly into daily tasks for research, writing, and pipeline organization
  • Collaborate across internal departments like marketing and product development to share market feedback

Requirements

  • Minimum of four years working in a closing sales capacity
  • Demonstrated track record of reaching or surpassing personal sales quotas
  • Familiarity with inbound and outbound sales methodologies in SaaS or human capital management environments
  • Experience using Salesforce for pipeline and customer relationship tracking
  • Willingness to actively use and provide feedback on artificial intelligence tools relevant to the position
  • Ability to work from designated office spaces approximately two to three days per week when situated near company offices

Qualifications

  • Direct experience selling professional employer organization solutions
  • Background in human capital management or employee benefits sales
  • Prior exposure to the peak professional employer organization selling season and renewal dynamics
  • Past experience successfully converting an existing customer base to a higher-tier or adjacent product
  • Understanding of broker, general agent, and accountant referral networks
  • Familiarity with human capital management platforms and benefits administration software
