ClickUp is seeking a Principal Frontend Engineer to spearhead frontend architecture strategy for its AI-native platform. The company develops a converged workspace application combining tasks, documents, chat, calendars, and enterprise search, enhanced by context-driven artificial intelligence. In this remote, full-time position, the professional will operate in a hands-on technical leadership capacity to shape scalable systems across multiple product surfaces.
This role is designed for an experienced technologist capable of navigating a fast-paced environment and balancing rapid execution with maintainability. The individual will collaborate with engineering, product, design, backend, and integration leaders to optimize performance, state management, and developer productivity.
As part of an AI-first organization, every team member utilizes artificial intelligence daily, and AI fluency is assessed throughout the evaluation process. The position offers a salary range between USD 250,000 and 300,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Define and drive frontend architecture strategy across product areas and platform investments
- Lead the design of scalable, performant systems using Angular and React
- Resolve complex cross-team technical challenges related to performance, state management, scalability, and developer productivity
- Collaborate with backend and integrations teams to shape end-to-end architecture for major features and systems
- Raise quality, testing, maintainability, and engineering standards across the frontend organization
- Provide technical leadership on high-impact initiatives and unblock teams facing ambiguous or difficult problems
- Guide teams toward pragmatic decisions supporting speed and long-term product quality
- Mentor senior and staff engineers while shaping frontend engineering culture and standards
- Influence organizational roadmap and decisions through technical judgment and product partnership
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of frontend engineering experience with large-scale web applications
- Expert-level knowledge of Angular, React, TypeScript, RxJS, and NgRx or comparable state management systems
- Demonstrated track record of architecting complex frontend systems utilized by large numbers of users
- Deep expertise in performance optimization, frontend scalability, maintainable application design, and reusable component architecture
- Experience driving technical strategy across multiple teams or product areas
- Strong judgment in balancing speed, quality, and long-term architecture in fast-moving environments
- Outstanding communication and collaboration abilities to influence across functions and levels
- Strong mentoring background with a passion for building high-performing engineering organizations
- Experience with testing infrastructure and defining testing strategies for large-scale feature changes
