Job Description
Legion, a workforce management software company focused on hourly employees, is hiring a Principal Product Manager for agentic AI. The role is fully remote within the United States and is an individual contributor position with no direct reports. The company describes its goal as turning hourly jobs into good jobs.
The work centers on defining each agent's scope: its duties, the actions it can take with external systems, its escalation triggers, and what supervisors can review after each step. The posting notes that agent behavior can change worker pay and legal obligations, so the product lead owns the human oversight design, including override paths, logging and compliance audit.
Ownership extends beyond the written specification. The posting says the person is accountable for the finished build, stays involved through implementation, tests the product personally, joins bug triage and design reviews, and can hold a release when quality falls short. Evaluation is part of the job too: writing test cases, reviewing failure traces, and setting pass criteria that show whether an agent can go live or is degrading in production. Specifications take the form of functional requirements documents that serve as the source of truth for release notes and sales material.
The role involves real prototyping. The posting asks for hands-on prompt writing, working prototypes with tool definitions and guardrails before engineering starts, and daily use of agentic coding tools such as Claude Code. Candidates should be able to read an execution trace and tell whether a failure stems from tool documentation, missing retrieval, context constraints, a loosely defined output format or the model itself. Opening pull requests is encouraged but not required. Commercial work includes packaging, metering and pricing inputs, plus leading design-partner pilots with large enterprise customers.
The base salary range is $280,000 to $300,000, plus bonus and stock equity. The posting says pay depends on location, experience, education and skills, and that the range may be refined by region.
Responsibilities
- Decide each agent's duties, permitted tools, escalation triggers and prohibited actions
- Identify workflows that suit an agent and those that do not, based on time spent in customer operations
- Define human oversight for each agent action, including overrides, logs and audit steps
- Write and maintain evaluation sets, review failure traces and set pass criteria
- Hold releases when evaluation results do not support shipping
- Write functional requirements documents and keep them accurate after launch
- Work with go-to-market teams on packaging, metering and pricing
- Lead enterprise design-partner pilots, including success criteria and failure reviews
Requirements
- Seven or more years in product management at senior level, or ten or more at principal level
- Two-plus years putting LLM-based features in front of paying outside customers
- Substantial B2B SaaS work for enterprises, covering tenant isolation, access control, audit logging, SSO, data residency and security review
- A record of taking a messy operational domain to a shipped, adopted product rather than a launch alone
- History of seeing a product through build, owning its quality, and having paused or halted a launch when needed
- Candor about the limits of today's models, even when the room expects otherwise
- Comfort working inside a codebase, able to run code on a local machine and submit a pull request
- Strong written communication, since the company runs on documents
Qualifications
- Past work in workforce software, HCM, ERP or supply chain domains that carry compliance obligations
- Familiarity with labor compliance rules such as predictive scheduling laws, meal and rest break rules or union work rules
- Exposure to forecasting, optimization or decision-support work

- Technical degree in engineering or computing, or prior hands-on engineering or data work
- Selling software to frontline-heavy sectors such as retail, hospitality, healthcare or manufacturing
