Job Description
Flex is a financial technology company constructing an AI-backed private banking platform tailored for closely held enterprises and high-net-worth business owners generating between $3 million and $200 million in revenue. Since its public launch in September 2023, the organization has achieved significant annualized revenue growth with a clear trajectory toward profitability by late 2026. Flex has secured substantial funding through both equity and debt.
The company is seeking a Product Owner to direct its entire Accountants Stack, which encompasses accounting integrations, expense tracking, invoicing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bill payment, and financial reporting. In this capacity, you will focus on the primary user persona: the external accountant, bookkeeper, controller, or fractional CFO who manages the day-to-day financial operations. By designing software that satisfies these accounting professionals, the platform naturally serves the business owner.
You will shape connectivity layers for systems such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, NetSuite, and Sage Intacct, while eliminating reconciliation friction between business and personal financial tracking. This position requires collaboration with product owners across banking, credit, cards, and payments to ensure seamless financial flows. Candidates should possess deep operational knowledge of accounting principles and prior experience building products for financial operators.
Responsibilities
- Define strategy and manage the connectivity layer linking the platform to enterprise accounting systems and ERPs
- Develop expense management features supporting receipt capture, general ledger coding, approval workflows, and automated integration
- Manage accounts payable and receivable workflows from initial invoicing to final vendor payment with full system reconciliation
- Design and release an invoicing product offering for customers
- Architect connections between business and personal financial data to support integrated owner lifestyles
- Partner with banking, credit, cards, and product teams to maintain unsegmented financial data flows
- Translate controller, chief financial officer, and certified public accountant personas for the broader organization
Requirements
- Possess roughly four to ten years of professional experience
- Demonstrate hands-on familiarity and building experience with at least two platforms including QuickBooks Online, Xero, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, or Acumatica
- Understand accrual and cash basis accounting, the close cycle, 1099 forms, and controller audit trail requirements
- Have prior experience building inside an accounting platform, developing as an integration partner, or creating native fintech products
- Understand the accountant channel and how certified public accountants influence product adoption
Qualifications
- Previous experience building for or partnering directly with certified public accountants
