Job Description
Flex seeks a frontline Business Development Representative (BDR) Manager to lead a team of seven to nine individual contributors and report directly to the Head of Sales Development. Operating remotely within the United States, this full-time role functions as a player-coach position focused on day-to-day coaching, performance management, ramp processes, pipeline pacing, and the Account Executive and BDR pod motion. The organization functions as an artificial intelligence-native private bank for business owners, re-architecting financial systems from banking and credit to payments and financial operations.
This position suits an experienced leader who enjoys building teams rather than merely monitoring metrics, and who possesses a background in the fintech sector. The successful candidate will collaborate cross-functionally with Account Executives, Marketing, RevOps, and Enablement while taking part in hiring and onboarding future team members alongside the recruiting department.
The company has scaled significantly since its public launch in September 2023, targeting affluent business owners with revenues between three million and two hundred million dollars. Team members experience a fast-moving startup environment that prioritizes execution, quality, and clarity. The BDR organization is projected to approximately double in size over the upcoming twelve to eighteen months, offering the manager an opportunity to shape long-term operations, team culture, and the hiring bar.
Responsibilities
- Coach and manage seven to nine BDRs through regular one-on-ones, pipeline evaluations, and call reviews
- Oversee ramp periods and performance management for both new hires and current representatives
- Drive the Account Executive and BDR pod motion through joint account work, creative outbound strategies, and weekly sprints
- Collaborate with the Head of Sales Development on team strategy, quota planning, and hiring initiatives
- Partner cross-functional with Marketing, Enablement, RevOps, and Account Executives to maintain team alignment
- Participate in hiring and onboarding subsequent layers of the BDR team alongside Recruiting
Requirements
- Prior individual contributor experience as a BDR or SDR before transitioning into leadership
- Previous experience leading a BDR or SDR team in a manager, team lead, or player-coach capacity
- Track record of coaching representatives to meet quotas and successfully managing pipeline metrics including SQLs, conversion rates, and ramp
- Comfort operating in a fast-paced startup environment characterized by rapid decisions and shifting priorities
- Cross-functional operating style focused on building friction-free relationships across operations, marketing, and sales
- Strong communication skills paired with a coaching-first mindset and the ability to maintain high accountability standards
Qualifications
- Fintech background covering financial infrastructure, spend management, payments, or B2B financial technology
- Familiarity with Salesforce, Apollo, Orum, and Claude tech stacks
- Prior experience hiring and ramping BDR personnel at a Series A to Series C startup
Core Skills
Benefits
- On-target earnings ranging from $90,000 to $125,000
- Equity in the company
- Direct line to senior leadership
