Professionals in this position will design production-grade libraries, write robust and optimized code, and handle concurrency and latency challenges. Developers will operate asynchronously within distributed teams while maintaining clear written communication. Tasks include crafting asynchronous services, optimizing hot paths, integrating databases and cloud platforms, and participating in peer code reviews. Responsibilities
- Design and maintain production-ready services and libraries written in Rust
- Develop safe and tested software with a focus on memory management and performance
- Create asynchronous services using Tokio along with frameworks such as Axum, Actix-web, or Tonic
- Identify and resolve concurrency, memory, and latency issues while optimizing performance
- Connect applications with databases, message queues, and cloud infrastructure
- Perform code reviews, support less experienced engineers, and participate in technical design choices
- Collaborate asynchronously with distributed teams through clear written communication
Requirements
- Minimum of five years of professional software engineering experience
- At least three years of production experience working with Rust
- Deep familiarity with ownership, lifetimes, borrowing, traits, and generics
- Hands-on background with asynchronous Rust and synchronization bounds
- Experience operating backend services or systems software in a production setting
- Understanding of memory management, concurrency, and performance profiling
- Proficiency with Rust testing methodologies and continuous integration pipelines
- Familiarity with SQL or NoSQL databases utilizing relevant crates
- Working knowledge of Linux, Docker, and at least one major cloud platform
- Strong proficiency in written and spoken English
- Availability for twenty hours per week with a four-hour overlap with United States time zones
Qualifications
- Experience with Unsafe Rust, FFI integration, or WebAssembly
- Background in embedded systems, networking, blockchain, or distributed architectures
- Active contributions to open-source projects within the Rust ecosystem
