This opportunity is designed for an independent, self-driven commercial professional who understands how data products and SaaS solutions serve quantitative finance, energy trading, and grid operations. The role requires partnering closely with internal teams including product, meteorology, and marketing, while maintaining a structured sales pipeline. Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive territory plan covering the Americas to acquire new clients and grow existing accounts
- Focus on expanding sales within the financial sector and United States utility markets, independent power producers, and grid operators
- Fulfill and exceed sales quotas through prospecting, deal qualification, and full-cycle execution
- Cultivate long-term professional relationships with key stakeholders across the weather and climate ecosystem
- Utilize a consultative selling methodology to connect company offerings with operational challenges faced by clients
- Acquire deep knowledge of Spire data platforms and products to articulate value to both technical and executive buyers
- Create and deliver sales presentations, proposals, and responses to tenders
- Lead commercial price negotiations and finalize agreements
- Keep sales pipeline data current within the CRM system for accurate forecasting
- Monitor market developments and competitor activity to spot new growth avenues
- Coordinate with product, meteorology, marketing, and customer success teams
Requirements
- More than eight years of professional background in sales, account management, or business development focusing on SaaS, APIs, or data products
- Demonstrated history of meeting or beating assigned sales quotas
- Background selling alternative data, analytics, or data into financial markets, quantitative funds, or energy trading desks
- Experience selling to United States electric utilities, grid operators, or independent power producers with knowledge of power procurement and weather impact
- Familiarity with standard sales platforms such as CRM software, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, ZoomInfo, and Lusha
- Fluent in English with authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship
- Willingness to travel across the assigned territory as required
- Availability to work from the office a minimum of three days per week
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree or equivalent practical experience, preferably in a technical field
- Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the Americas such as Spanish, Portuguese, or French
- Existing professional network within climate-tech, earth observation, or meteorology
- Familiarity with United States power market structures, ISOs, RTOs, NERC, and FERC reliability guidelines
- Established network among alternative data buyers or trading floor personnel
