In this position, the professional functions as a trusted technical advisor, guiding major enterprises in designing secure, scalable API ecosystems and facilitating their shift into the agentic AI era. Responsibilities
- Assist field sales in helping buyers understand the utility of the Kong platform.
- Conduct discovery discussions to map client requirements to appropriate offerings from initial review to production.
- Manage technical validation and stakeholder alignment throughout evaluations and proof-of-concept phases.
- Ensure account satisfaction across assigned customer portfolios.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and support teams to represent client needs.
- Produce technical documentation for implementations, services, and DevOps teams.
- Lead evaluations regarding API management and artificial intelligence governance, including traffic management and use case scoping.
- Demonstrate governance and connectivity capabilities such as prompt guardrails and semantic caching.
- Run technical feasibility workshops to validate architecture compatibility.
- Direct technical strategies for multi-stakeholder enterprise deals from start to finish.
- Mentor junior solutions engineers regarding deal strategy, discovery methods, and technical skills.
- Publish technical content, host webinars, and speak at industry events.
- Channel market signals and feedback back to the product organization.
Requirements
- Over seven years of solutions engineering or software engineering experience at an enterprise software, SaaS, or open-source company.
- Proven track record of managing complex enterprise deals involving multiple executive and technical stakeholders.
- Experience coaching or mentoring other technical team members or solutions engineers.
- Familiarity with cloud-native platforms, Kubernetes, and Docker.
- Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines, REST and GraphQL APIs, and API security patterns such as mTLS, OIDC, and OAuth2.
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or OpenAI Codex.
- Working knowledge of large language model architectures including rate limiting, model routing, prompt governance, and semantic caching.
- Familiarity with agentic AI patterns and the Model Context Protocol.
