Job Description
NEC Software Solutions (India) is seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer for a contract lasting three to six months. This remote position sits within the Data Services team, where the successful candidate will handle hands-on technical responsibilities related to cloud-based data solutions on AWS and Microsoft Azure.
The role involves designing, building, and supporting data integration, migration, and analytics platforms while collaborating with both business and technical stakeholders. NEC Software Solutions is part of NEC Corporation and builds software utilized by governments, hospitals, police forces, housing providers, and local authorities to support essential public services.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable ELT and ETL pipelines
- Construct data integration mechanisms across cloud, third-party, and on-premise systems
- Execute data migration projects involving extraction, transformation, validation, cutover, and reconciliation
- Conduct data profiling, root cause analysis, and quality assessments
- Optimize and build data lakehouse, data lake, and data warehouse solutions
- Generate source-to-target mappings, technical documentation, and transformation rules
- Address compliance, security, and data governance standards
- Partner with stakeholders to define requirements and deliver technical solutions
- Resolve complex data issues with sustainable implementations
Requirements
- Eligibility for UK Security Clearance
- Pre-existing right to work and travel within the UK with documentary evidence
- Proven background in data engineering
- Demonstrated history of delivering complex data migration and integration projects
- Experience managing large and complex datasets
- Hands-on practice across both Microsoft Azure and AWS environments
- SQL development, optimization, and troubleshooting proficiency
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Amazon Redshift, and Amazon Athena
- Practical experience with AWS tools including Glue, Athena, Redshift, S3, Lambda, Step Functions, and QuickSight
- Practical experience with Azure tools including Microsoft Fabric, Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Data Lake Storage, and Azure SQL
