Job Description
Mercury is hiring a Senior Data Scientist for its Growth team. The role is remote, full-time, and works alongside growth product and design teams, plus engineering and marketing leaders, on how Mercury wins, activates and keeps customers across its business and personal banking offerings. The posting describes Mercury as a fintech company rather than an FDIC-insured bank.
This is a product-facing position. The data scientist frames the questions behind what gets built, estimates the size of opportunities and turns the growth funnel into clear, ranked recommendations. Ownership spans everything from a first site visit to sign-up, approval, activation and keeping customers, with metrics, driver trees and written narratives that show where growth is working and where it is not.
Other duties include steering Growth roadmap and annual planning, running and reading A/B tests and quasi-experiments, and matching analysis depth to the decision. The role partners with peers in data science, data engineering and analytics engineering to create reliable, self-serve growth metrics, and communicates findings to audiences ranging from executives to individual contributors.
Candidates bring six or more years in analytics for data science or growth teams, three of which were spent alongside product growth groups. The posting asks for a history of changing what a team built, not just measuring it, along with experience in experiment design, funnel and cohort analysis, SQL, and a statistical language such as Python or R. Familiarity with Amplitude, Hex, Omni, Snowflake and dbt is useful, and exposure to consumer or small-business fintech, or to mobile analytics, is a plus.
The base salary range for US employees, in any location, is $200,700 to $250,900 USD. Canadian employees in any location fall within CAD 189,700 to 237,100.
