Freshworks seeks a Senior Engineering Manager to oversee its core Billing Platform in Bengaluru. In this position, you will direct the technology strategy and engineering teams responsible for subscription management, user entitlements, and usage metering. The platform serves as a foundational ecosystem that monetizes and powers multiple company products, requiring you to bridge technical execution with broader business models.
This role is well-suited for a seasoned technical leader who enjoys collaborating beyond engineering. You will partner with product, finance, pricing, sales, and customer success teams to translate commercial rules into reliable, highly scalable technology systems. Your mandate includes steering architecture across distributed systems, guiding roadmap development, and shaping engineering best practices while exploring AI-assisted developer workflows.

Responsibilities
- Own the technical direction and engineering strategy for subscription management, entitlements, and metering
- Design and build secure, extensible, and highly reliable distributed platform capabilities
- Collaborate with product and business stakeholders to define the platform roadmap and scale monetization models
- Manage end-to-end execution of cross-functional initiatives while balancing technical debt and long-term investments
- Lead, scale, and mentor high-performing engineering teams and technical leaders
- Improve developer experience, automation, and engineering productivity through modern practices and AI adoption
Requirements
- Have at least 15 years of software engineering background focused on building and scaling large-scale platforms
- Accumulate a minimum of 5 years of engineering management experience
- Demonstrate deep knowledge of microservices, distributed systems, event-driven architectures, databases, and APIs
- Show proven capability in leading engineering organizations and cultivating talent
- Possess strong stakeholder management and cross-functional communication abilities
Qualifications
- Background building shared services or platforms consumed by multiple products
- Familiarity with billing, subscription, payment, commerce, metering, or monetization platforms
- Experience managing engineering managers and senior technical leaders
