Job Description

Spotify is hiring a Senior Fullstack Engineer for its Subscriptions Mission, specifically within the Beacon team that operates the Quicksilver internal messaging platform. This platform facilitates communication with more than 1.4 billion users across push, email, and in-app channels by helping operators create, target, localize, and launch messages globally. In this full-time remote position located in New York, the chosen candidate will design and evolve the Quicksilver user interface, develop end-to-end frontend features using TypeScript and React, and handle server-side creative rendering.

This opportunity is well-suited for a software professional experienced in building intuitive tools for internal operators and comfortable navigating complex, distributed systems. The role requires collaboration with product and design teammates, maintaining robust API contracts, supporting multi-market localization workflows, and contributing to overall technical direction and architectural decisions. While the primary focus rests on frontend web applications and TypeScript ecosystems, the engineer will also step into backend services written in Java, Scala, or Python, manage cloud infrastructure tools like GCP and GKE, and trace data flow through BigQuery.

Spotify operates as an equal opportunity employer committed to a diverse, inclusive workplace. The organization supports flexible working arrangements within the North Americas region, aligning collaboration efforts with the Eastern Standard time zone.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and expand the Quicksilver user interface for authoring, previewing, and delivering cross-channel communications.
  • Manage frontend features completely from component design in TypeScript and React through server-side creative rendering.
  • Troubleshoot Java and Apollo services, update gRPC, Protobuf, and REST API contracts, and trace data via BigQuery.
  • Facilitate multi-market and localization workflows to ensure reliable content rendering across locales.
  • Collaborate with design and product partners to shape features addressing operator needs.
  • Enhance developer experience through better testing infrastructure, component documentation, integration tooling, and build performance.
  • Contribute to architectural evolution and technical decision-making.

Requirements

  • Experience constructing complex web applications utilizing TypeScript and modern UI frameworks such as React.
  • Familiarity with state management, GraphQL, Apollo, component-scoped styling, and reusable component libraries.
  • Background in building internal tools or platforms for operators.
  • Ability to work across frontend and backend systems, including reading or modifying Java services.
  • Familiarity with API contracts like REST, gRPC, or Protobuf.
  • Experience working with Scala or Python when addressing pipelines or APIs.
  • Capacity to navigate cloud infrastructure and data utilities such as GCS, GCP, GKE, and BigQuery.
  • Ability to balance technical debt and communicate tradeoffs regarding system maintenance, improvement, and migration.

Qualifications

  • Experience with data pipelines
  • Familiarity with vector search or RAG LLM applications
  • Experience with server-side rendering
