The Enterprise AI group is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to design, implement, and maintain production-grade machine learning systems that drive business value. This position sits within a fast-paced environment where priorities shift rapidly, requiring adaptability, pragmatic decision-making, and strong collaboration skills. Ideal candidates possess a blend of advanced machine learning capabilities and robust software engineering skills, enabling them to navigate ambiguous business problems and guide projects from concept through deployment.
In this capacity, you will oversee the complete lifecycle of machine learning products, including data engineering, feature generation, model training, offline assessment, rollout, and operational monitoring. You will collaborate closely with product managers, data scientists, platform developers, and business stakeholders to build scalable solutions on cloud infrastructure. This role involves establishing operational readiness through testing, debugging, code reviews, and observability practices, while also shaping technical architecture and mentoring teammates.
Responsibilities
- Design, create, and launch machine learning models and services that support Enterprise AI initiatives
- Manage the entire machine learning lifecycle from problem definition and feature creation to training, evaluation, and live monitoring
- Develop scalable software using Python alongside automated testing, profiling, and code review practices
- Collaborate with product, engineering, data science, and business groups to establish success metrics and deliver impactful outcomes
- Operate and maintain machine learning services on cloud infrastructure with proper alerting and safeguards
- Apply statistical methods, experimentation, and counterfactual evaluations to measure model performance and support launch choices
- Contribute to technical strategy through architecture discussions, design reviews, and evaluation of modeling frameworks
Requirements
- Five or more years of professional experience in building and releasing production machine learning models and systems
- Proficiency in Python and SQL with a focus on production-grade code, debugging, and testing
- Demonstrated background handling every phase of the machine learning lifecycle including data preparation, feature engineering, deployment, and monitoring
- Practical background constructing and running machine learning services or data products within a cloud ecosystem like Google Cloud Platform or Amazon Web Services
- Familiarity with containerized applications and production software standards involving Docker, continuous integration, and incident management
- Proven ability to partner with cross-functional stakeholders to define project requirements and achieve goals
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or an equivalent technical discipline
- Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field
- Background building machine learning architectures for large-scale, high-throughput, or low-latency use cases
- Familiarity with distributed data processing, streaming technologies, feature stores, and real-time computations
- Experience utilizing model serving, orchestration, and machine learning platforms like Kubernetes, Airflow, or Spark
- Knowledge of simulation, experimentation, or counterfactual evaluation methodologies
- Competence in a performance-oriented programming language such as C++, Java, or Go
- Experience mentoring engineers, directing cross-functional efforts, or establishing technical vision
- Background operating in e-commerce, marketplaces, logistics, retail, or advertising industries
