Job Description

Canva is hiring a Senior Operations Expert for its Safety and Trust Operations team, known as STOps. STOps is the frontline function that investigates abuse, enforces policy and builds the operational base that keeps the platform safe for more than 150 million daily users. The expert is a key individual contributor who works alongside the content safety, abuse insight and account integrity groups, plus the company's AI and product teams.

The expert leads sensitive investigations and triages escalated cases across categories such as misleading material, hateful or discriminatory conduct, abuse or harassment, and child safety. They serve as the main liaison for Tier 1 vendor partners, covering quality concerns, training consistency and policy reinforcement, and they pass policy changes and edge-case guidance to those partners. The role joins red-team exercises to uncover weaknesses in classifiers, labels datasets, evaluates classifier output and helps tune the trust model. It also covers incident response, including on-call duty and post-mortems, and documenting escalation trends so policy, machine learning and product teams can act on them.

The posting asks for a bachelor's degree or three-plus years in abuse prevention or fraud work, plus the capacity to run high-risk investigations independently. Knowing investigation software such as Castle is useful, as is curiosity about AI readiness, including dataset labelling, prompt evaluation, classifier feedback and red-teaming. The job involves regular exposure to disturbing material, including child safety content. Canva provides wellbeing help, resilience routines and counselling for staff in the group. Candidates should be prepared to join an on-call rotation that may include round-the-clock coverage and holiday shifts. Working arrangements can be remote, hybrid or in the office.

  • Be the main liaison for Tier 1 vendor partners on quality concerns, training and policy
  • Pass policy updates and edge-case clarifications on to vendor partners
  • Join red-team work to find classifier blind spots, label data and assess classifier results
  • Take charge of incident response at times, covering on-call duty and post-mortems
  • Record escalation patterns to guide policy, ML and product work across the trust group
  • Speak for STOps in joint projects with content safety, abuse insight, account integrity and other colleagues

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree, or three-plus years in abuse prevention or fraud work
  • Ability to run difficult investigations calmly and with independent judgement
  • Experience with case investigation tooling such as Castle or similar
  • Experience with, or real curiosity about, AI readiness such as dataset labelling, prompt evaluation, classifier feedback or red-teaming
  • Resilience to work with disturbing material and to look after your own wellbeing
  • Ability to represent a frontline operational viewpoint with Policy, Product, Engineering and Legal
  • Willingness to join on-call duty, including overnight and holiday coverage

Benefits

  • Equity
  • Parental leave policy covering all parents and carers
  • Yearly Vibe and Thrive allowance covering wellbeing, social activities and home-office setup
